Second Communique November 19, 2022
As regards the operations on the runway of Jorge Chávez International Airport, LAP informs the following:
1. The Comisión de Investigación de Accidentes de Aviación (Aviation Accident Investigation Commision -CIAA) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been working since last night to determine the causes of the accident and supervising the removal work on the runway.
2. Although the work has been carried out intensively by the airline and in permanent coordination with LAP and the authorities, this is taking longer than estimated due to the complexity of the accident and the treatment of the fuel spill caused.
3. In view of the above, LAP has requested to extend the suspension of operations until 00:00hrs on November 20, 2022.
4. LAP is working in parallel to repair the pavement, lights, and other damages, in order to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft.
5. The reopening of the runway and aeronautical operations shall be possible only with the approval of the corresponding authority.
