Press release february 28, 2025
Regarding the information being disseminated about the possible change in the start date for operations at the new Jorge Chávez International Airport, Lima Airport Partners states the following:
1. As of now, there has been no communication from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) regarding a possible change in the start date for operations at the new terminal. The opening date of March 30 remains unchanged, and Lima Airport Partners continues to work toward this goal.
2.The New Jorge Chávez is being prepared to meet passenger demand, adhering to the quality, safety, and operational efficiency standards established in the Concession Contract and current aeronautical regulations.
3. Lima Airport Partners has been conducting unitary and advanced tests. The unitary tests ensure readiness for advanced testing, while advanced tests verify processes on the platform, terminal, access roads, and parking areas. These tests have involved over 5,000 volunteer passengers and all relevant operators. The final phase of testing began on Thursday, February 27, and will continue until March 13. These tests also allow for the verification of processes and integration of essential systems to ensure an efficient and safe opening.
4. We will continue testing all necessary systems for operation, and should any issue arise that compromises passenger safety, Lima Airport Partners will be the first to inform the authorities.
We reaffirm our commitment to the entire airport community to deliver an airport that benefits our passengers and users while driving the country's development. We are dedicated to collaborating with the entire sector during this final stage of the new Jorge Chávez Airport.
